To model in the image and likeness

Professor Higgins, a specialist in phonetics, meets Elisa, a flower seller. The vulgarity and incorrectness of her language arouses his interest. He decides to carry out an experiment with her: to transform Elisa into a respectable lady of high society. This is an adaptation of the homonymous play by Bernard Shaw.

It is indeed pretty interesting the adaptation of this play. The Pygmalion effect, as we know, is a psychological phenomenon wherein high expectations lead to improved performance . The effect is named after the Greek myth of Pygmalion, a sculptor who fell in love with a statue he had carved. We can see how the professor made the florist as he want to, all in accordance with his view of the importance of language and phonetic.
